MEDIA WITH INTEGRITY: FILM & MUSIC CONTEST/Project
Pilot Program – Starting Monday, February 9, 2026
For Ages 14–24 • Presented by MVP3 Foundation, MVP3 Network & MVP3 Music Group

PURPOSE

The Media With Integrity Contest invites young creators to produce original film and music that embody media integrity and community purpose, with the goal of uplifting others. MVP3 Foundation recognizes that media and music are closely connected to our mental and emotional health and is committed to healing communities through the arts and encouraging responsible, hope‑filled storytelling.

Funding Note (2026 Pilot):
This pilot program is supported in part by public grant /sponsor funding, including City of Memphis support. These funds may only be used for instruction, program operations, outreach, and non‑cash recognition (such as plaques and certificates). Additional in‑kind donations (such as meals, snacks, or learning resources) may be provided by community partners. No cash prizes or cash grants are funded or guaranteed under this pilot.

If additional private sponsorship becomes available, MVP3 Foundation may later announce separate sponsor‑funded cash awards; such awards would not use City of Memphis grant funds.

School and District Policies:
Participation in this contest must comply with each school or district’s policies. It is the responsibility of teachers, administrators, and students to obtain any required approvals from their school or district before participating or using class time or school resources for entries.

WHO CAN ENTER & HOW TO PARTICIPATE

Eligible Ages
Youth and young adults ages 14–24.

Eligible Work

Original short films
Original music compositions/songs
Collaborative film + music projects

Entries may be submitted by individuals or teams. Entries may also be submitted by full classrooms or larger student groups, with the entire class/group treated as one entry for judging purposes. When a group or classroom wins, each participating student will receive an individual certificate, and the project will be recognized as one winning entry in its category.

Ways to Participate

Classroom Projects
Partner schools and teachers may integrate the contest into class assignments or group projects, giving students structured time and guidance in class to create their entries.
Independent Projects
Students may also work on their film or music entry on their own or with friends/teams outside of class time.
Workshops & Demonstrations
MVP3 Foundation and partners will offer select workshops, demonstrations, or talks (in‑person or virtual) on storytelling, media literacy, filmmaking, music creation, and responsible media use, as scheduling and resources allow.
Summer Production Opportunities (June 2026)
Selected students may be invited to:
Continue developing their projects with MVP3 mentors during June sessions;
Gain hands‑on exposure by observing or assisting on real MVP3 productions (as observers, assistants, or junior support, as appropriate);
Learn about real‑world production workflows in film, television, and music.

These opportunities are educational, non‑cash, and based on interest, readiness, and availability.

Additional Forms for In‑Person Activities:
Participation in any in‑person activities (including workshops, shadowing, and production‑related experiences) may require additional consent, media, and liability forms to be signed by participants and, if under 18, their parent/guardian. Attendance at these optional activities is subject to timely completion of all required forms and compliance with safety and conduct guidelines.

THEME: MEDIA, INTEGRITY & COMMUNITY PURPOSE

Projects should address at least one of these ideas:

The difference between fake vs. real in media
How media can influence behaviors, self‑image, relationships, and community (positively or negatively)
The impact of harmful or misleading messages, and how to respond with critical thinking and responsibility
Positive examples of ethical, respectful, and truthful media
How we can use creativity and media to heal, educate, or uplift our communities

Projects may explore difficult topics, but must do so in a respectful, age‑appropriate, and educational way suitable for a school, homeschool, or community audience.

HOW TO SHAPE YOUR STORY

Pick one clear message you care about (for example: “Think before you share,” “Media can heal,” or “You are more than your feed”).
Make it personal and real by using situations from everyday life (school, home, online, or community) without shaming or exposing anyone.
Show the problem and the hope: briefly show the challenge, then show a better choice, solution, or act of kindness.
Use any creative format—drama, documentary, spoken word, music‑video style, or animation—as long as it remains respectful, age‑appropriate, and uplifting.

CATEGORIES & LENGTH

Film
Short film, documentary, or experimental video
Suggested length: 2–5 minutes

Music

Be suitable to show in a school, homeschool, or community setting
Include written consent for anyone who appears in the work

Participants may address sensitive issues (e.g., body image, stereotypes, pressure from media) only in a non‑graphic, educational, and responsible way.

Entries must not defame, harass, or unlawfully invade the privacy or publicity rights of any person, school, business, or organization. Where real situations inspire the work, entrants are strongly encouraged to fictionalize names and identifying details.

Each entry must include a brief Artist Statement (3–5 sentences) explaining:
